Dr. Kathryn Gilpatric of Fountain City, Tennessee passed away Friday morning after being struck by a hit and run driver. Gilpatric died in the line of duty after rushing to the aid of two neighborhood dogs that had been hit by a car. While police scrambled to reroute traffic around the accident scene, Gilpatric was struck and killed by an Isuzu Amigo that immediately fled the scene. The dog she was treating later died from injuries sustained, but the Animal Emergency Critical Care Center at 10213 Kingston Pike in Knoxville TN is accepting donations for the Rosey Fund, established to raise money to pay for veterinary care for the second dog involved in the accident.

Police are asking locals to keep an eye out for a dark Isuzu Amigo with a removable soft top and damage to the left front corner. Witnesses are asked to call the Knoxville Police Department Tip Line at (865) 215-7212.
