Chamberlin's Story

The Guilford County Animal Shelter recently released this video, and I was floored when I saw it last night. Chamberlin was abandoned in an overgrown yard and was found while it was being mowed. By the time he was discovered he was emaciated and his front legs had stopped functioning properly. He’s found new hope thanks to Susie’s Fund, and now can begin receiving the medical help he needs in order to recover. He remains in the custody of the GCAS until he is healthy enough to be adopted.

Amazing. It always amazes me that no matter what these dogs have been through, they still have the strength to wag their tail!!! You can just see the life in his eyes. Poor little guy.

What determination Chamberlain has…if his sweet little wagging tail can propel him he’d be flying high soon.

The tail ♥ I can’t stop crying and as an activist I see so much cruelty and abuse, but the wagging tail and the determination…and the beautiful face. I believe in angels, but real ones, ones like Chamberlin. Some, incredibly fortunate human is going to have a most amazing life with you by his/her side.

God! It breaks my heart to see what has happened to this poor dog. I can’t believe how callous people can be. Thank heavens for those that come to their aid. I’m pulling for you, Chamberlin.

I agree with basically everything everyone else has said. Of course I am crying but it’s not just about the horrible time he went through but about his hope and tail wagging in spite of it all. This is why I will always prefer the company of a dog to the company of a person.

You go Chamberlin! What an amazing little guy!

I can’t watch the video until I know he will be ok:(
No matter how many times I hear about or see these situations it always shocks me. As an animal lover I can not understand how people can hurt them. My prayers and thoughts are with this sweet boy.

Stories like this break our hearts. Just thinking that anyone can abandon a dog to starve like that makes us so mad and so sad. We’re so happy Chamberlain is now loved and cared for. Just seeing his sweet face and happy tail restores our faith. Love and kisses, Chamberlain – your new good life awaits you !!

Every one of these poor dogs do wag their tails! I am constantly amazed at how they’re able to wag in spite of their conditions.
I hope we’ll be undated on Chamberlin’s story as he progresses.

I just don’t understand some humans. With 9-11 just going by and the way animals are treated in this world, I just don’t understand all the evil. It wouldn’t take much to take care of Chamberlain, to take him at least to a shelter instead of neglecting food, water and love. What a great spirit Chamberlain has, we could learn so much from him.

Here’s hoping for more love in this world.

I have never seen a dog as emaciated as Chamberlain – not even at our shelter. I was horrified to see his nails. I pray for his full recovery, a new and loving home, and a future video showing him fully recovered.
The tears keep on coming. Poor baby.

There are people in this world who do not believe that animals feel pain or have feelings. It disturbs my humans. I think it’s wonderful that y’all care and that others care enough to see pups like Chamberlin get a chance to find love and happiness.
Y’all come by now. Hawkeye, aka Brown Dog

I knew this would make me cry and I hesitated before watching it and I prayed it would have a happy ending. This reminds me of another dog I saw on Animal Cops abandoned in a basement and in the same condition, and when the animal cops arrived he could not even hold up his head but his tail was wagging, unfortunately they lost him as soon as he arrived at the hospital, I have never forgotton that dog and never will, it affected me so profoundly. I am praying that Chamberlan heals and finds a loving home. There was a reason he struggled so hard to stay alive, to teach us there is always hope, never give up. I would love to have a update on him and his progress and photos of him. God help the person that did this to him. Please, please do everything you can to help and heal this angel.

There is nothing in me that can begin to understand the atrocity inflicted upon this dog. And there is nothing in me that can truly grasp how a being so horribly abused can exude such love and trust despite what he has endured. This is why I am grateful that there are dogs in the world. To remind us to always strive for our better selves, to forgive, to trust, to struggle and to overcome.

I am praying for sweet Chamberlain and all the dogs – far too many – out there like him.
