I really like this program. Engaging the youth of the neighborhoods where the dog fighting takes place is a great place to start! Teaching potential dog fighters to view dogs as pets and not “things” will hopefully change attitudes.
That sounds like a wonderful program. I hope it continues to have an impact. It’s so hard to believe that in this day and age dog fighting has become such a pervasive problem. Anything that helps to stop it is a good thing.
Very good program, but remember that HSUS isn’t the only group running such programs. Best Friends has one called Saving America’s Dog, to help fight breed discriminatory laws, and another which includes instruction in some inner-city schools to teach kids how to be kind, respectful & safe around dogs. Start teaching them young, & they’re very unlikely to have any interest in dog-fighting.
This program needs to be in every city! If Michael Vick would do something like promote it, raise money for it, talk to kids in school – I’d be a lot more forgiving. This is where he needs to step up if he wants to help make things right!
Michael Vick has a PR team to try and redeem his image!!! Give me a freaking break that he has turned his life around and does not think that Dog Fighting is wrong!!! Him and his so called friends will just be smart enough not to get caught again! Someone who loves this type of bloodsport so much does not change his spots!! Loser Michael Vick and your name does not need to mentioned ever again!
