Dogs Deserve Better Considers Former Vick Property for Animal Sanctuary

Once the site of unspeakable horrors, Michael Vick’s former Surry County, Virginia home could eventually become a haven for abused and neglected dogs – if Pennsylvania advocacy group Dogs Deserve Better is able to secure funding for the purchase of the property.

Dogs Deserve Better has turned to social media in order to solicit donations to convert the 15-acre property into an animal rehab center. It has established a Facebook page called 999,999 Friends for the Good Newz Rehab Center for Chained Dogs. The non-profit has until March 20 to raise at least $600,000 to purchase the property.

It is estimated that a total of $3 million will be required to create the dog center. The house would become an office and fundraising center, and organizers hope to build a fence around the property and have a monitoring system installed.

Dogs Deserve Better is based in Tipton, Pennsylvania with more than 100 representatives nationwide, and their foster home volunteers rescue and rehabilitate about 400-600 dogs each year.

Vick himself should have to pay for it.

I believe it was seized from Vick, so he technically wouldn’t own it any more.

That would be the perfect solution to finding funding. Vick is going to making millions so why can’t he fund this worthy project! And what better way for him to “show” the public he means what he says when he says he is “sorry”……….I still don’t believe him!

Before it becomes a sanctuary they need to make sure all those shallow graved animals are found and buried proper.

But it is a nice idea to have something good come out of something horrid. Just there was so much pain, suffering, and slow deaths that happened there.

Yes, I agree, because animals have souls. I firmly believe that. So when I cross over, my clan, that I have loved over my lifetime will be waiting for me! At least I sure hope so.

The poor little souls that so deserved better and that he (Vick) viciously cheated out of a loving life deserve to RIP.

I would be afraid that the spirits of all the dogs who died on the property in those violent ways might disturb the dogs who would be living on the property. Animals can see the other side and the dogs may not mean to scare them but just might be visiting or hanging around where they suffered, no different then humans who die violent deaths. It is not hallowed ground – it is unholy. Perhaps should be blessed first to release the evil that happened at the hands of VICK and his associates.

I wouldn’t take one thing from the monster Vick. I can see the headlines now
Vick buys back his house of abuse and murder to donate to Rescue, let’s all praise Vick for having a heart, NOT!!!
Really,Vick should have not one single part in this. Everyones bitching he’s in the headlines, this creep will not go away. He has no remorse for what he and his loser cousins did to these poor dogs. Remember he said he would still be fighting dogs if he didn’t get caught.

Can’t put something so beautiful to cover something so horrid. I couldn’t live in a house built on a burial site or where so many lives were tortured. Would you? I think it should be torn down, demolished, land sold, and start new somewhere else.

He needs to donate the entire property and pay for all expenses the are necessary to run the entire sanctuary. That’s the least he could do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can’t help but be a little creeped out by it. Just like I wouldn’t buy a house that someone had been murdered in, I don’t think I’d want to operate an animal rescue on that property. But that’s just me. I think what they do is wonderful and I wish them the best of luck!

We have to remember that dogs are very perceptive.Such as cancer sniffing, bomb sniffing, drug sniffing, etc. Why couldn’t they get a bad vibe from the land and surroundings? I say it’s not a good idea, karma, what ever we want to call it. Those sweet dogs deserve better for sure. I only rescue my animals and even take hospice dogs, so for someone to do hideous things to animals sickens me.

Before donating, would like to see a business plan – using the whole house as an office and fund raising? How much room do you need for dog’s sake?
Many rooms could be used to house dogs – which means more $ for kennels, washing machines, dryers, etc. Building a rescue site/kennel is a big deal. Good for them for trying, but this group is going to need A LOT of money.

Really, don’t think the dogs give a darn about the karma – a home is a home.

Dogs Deserve Better is a reputable 501c3 charity that has done really good work for canines. If anyone could make this work for the benefits of the dogs they can.

After a good PAWSitive cleansing of the bad energy there this would be a wonderful thing to happen. I believe we can change the bad past with PAWSitive change. You can cleans a place of the bad energy that once was there and this can happen here too.

I sure hope they get the donations they need.

I don’t believe Michael Vick is at all sorry for what he did and even though it is the right thing for him to do to offer this rescue the property, I would be amazed if he actually did it. *sigh* It’s a shame that all humans aren’t as nice as our pawrents.

It should be torn down. It is so evil what he did to those dogs. Or at least bless the property by a priest to release any doggie spirits that may be earth bound and cleanse the land of the evil energy from VICK! Son of satan. Then maybe turn it into a sanctuary by DDB and in memory of all the beings who suffered and died there so they know that they did not die in vain. They are loved and remembered forever.

I agree with some of the previous comments, KEEP vick AWAY from ALL DOGS. I hope after they determine that all the dogs graves have been moved that they cleanse the land. There has got to be ALOT of negative energy attached to the grounds. What vick and his thugs were doing there to the dogs was pure evil! I hope he never gets a good nights sleep. Donna

    surprise & investigate

Don’t know Tammy? Then let me tell you about her really. She’s getting married soon, wants a new house, and is chuckling because people only knowing her by the internet are going to buy her a mansion. She just had her house appraised so she can sell it. The dogs will live there, but the real Tammy the people in her life who see her daily know she isn’t nice to the dogs living with her. She beats, kicks, screams, and underfeeds them to keep control. Not unlike she treats everyone else in her life. Donate to buy the Vick place, you are buying Tammy a new home for her honeymoon.
