Naki’o is the first dog to be fitted with a complete set of bionic paws that work naturally to allow him to run, jump and even swim. Nakio received the paws after his owners abandoned him and his own paws were severely damaged by frostbite.

The prosthetics were designed and fitted in a pioneering procedure by Martin Kaufmann, founder of Orthopets. The prosthetic legs “are designed to replicate the muscle and bone structure of the dog’s natural limbs, and so allow him to do everything a normal dog would be able to do,” according to Orthopets.

Orthopets is expanding, opening clinics worldwide. They have created state of the art prosthetics for cats, horses, llamas and even a stork.
