Their Bleach It Away Program has set up a fun and interactive page at www.BleachItAway.com, where visitors can share those messy moments, get cleanup tips, and qualify for the chance to win. Clorox started the program to make sure you’re prepared to tackle that next messy moment you face, so it becomes an amusing anecdote instead of a horror story.

The contest is open to everyone, but we’d love to see a fellow dog lover win the big prize. Page visitors can vote for their favorite stories, and the ones that receive the most votes in a two-week period will be entered for a chance to win the $25,000. In addition, each day a featured story will be selected and awarded a $100 gift card. Everybody who shares a story will receive a Clorox Liquid Bleach coupon to help make it easier to fight their next messy moment.

We could come up with many of our own moments, and we’re sure you can, too. Here are just a few moments we’ve seen or experienced.

. All dogs love to chew on laundry basket finds, but our puppy quickly learned that eating a whole sock is not a good treat. She threw up everywhere! At least she was kind and left her mess mostly on the tile.

. The saying “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure” is especially true for dogs. A friend’s dog not only peeks in the trash for scraps, but knocks the can over and then drags the bag through the house to his spot in the den, leaving coffee grinds, leftovers and napkin bits all through the house.

·   Our golden retriever has a special bone she brings everywhere, almost like a child holding tight to their security blanket. She’ll dig in the dirt with it, drop it in puddles, even drop it in her own “messes,” then come back in the house and leave the bone on the kitchen table as a present. I quickly grab the bleach to disinfect before my food reaches the table!

·   A little while after getting back from a nice walk with my dog, I noticed a strange smell. After walking and sniffing around my house, I realized that my dog had stepped in her own “business” during our walk and was leaving messy, smelly footprints all over my home!

·   That distinctive “hack, hack, hack” sound coming from the cat can only mean one thing – fur ball!  My cat tends to leave her sloppy wet fur balls in her favorite nooks and crannies around the house, from the bathroom floor to the kitchen countertops.

·    My dog’s favorite toy is this bright red ball. One day, as I was chopping up some veggies, I placed a large hothouse tomato on the countertop.  Out of the corner of my eye, I saw two black paws on the countertop and a furry mouth reaching for the tomato. One big squish later, not only did my dog look confused and depressed thinking she had deflated her ball, but there were also tomato chunks strewn around the kitchen!

Life With Dogs is being compensated by the Clorox Company to talk about life’s messy moments as part of the Bleach It Away Program. They asked us to participate because, after all, who would know more than dog lovers when it comes to dealing with life’s messy moments?
