An Easthampton, Massachusetts woman says she is struggling to get through everyday activities without her missing companion K-9.

“It’s been really difficult. I cry everyday,” says Margo LaTrez. LaTrez is devastated by the loss of her 4-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Cassie. Her distress is compounded by the fact that her husband died in August.

cassie“(I have) memory loss, and areas of my brain have severe brain impairment,” she says. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, a social anxiety disorder and dementia, LaTrez says Cassie helps her to stay calm and focused when she would otherwise be overcome with anxiety.

She last saw Cassie on Veteran’s day when the dog was sitting on a couch near an open window of her Exeter Street home. She is convinced that Cassie was stolen.

“I can’t imagine her jumping out the window, so it’s a possibility that somebody took her from the open window,” she says. “I’m really worried about her condition. She’s adorable and anyone would want to keep her, but I don’t think she’s going to do well with anybody else.”

LaTrez says Cassie is microchipped. She is offering a $1000 no-questions-asked reward for the safe return of her companion. Anyone with information regarding Cassie’s whereabouts is asked to call (413) 203-5505 or (413) 885-9243 or (530) 859-2490.
