Buttons, a Jack Russell terrier, was rejected by his mother as the runt of the litter. He has found all the love he needs though in Kitty, a black and white kitten that is at the same shelter in as her in England. The two friends have become inseparable, to the point that Buttons cries when Kitty is taken away from her to spend some time with other cats at the shelter.

The two friends have both experienced being abandoned. Kitty came to the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home when someone found her alone in a yard when she was only one day old. Buttons mom was brought to the shelter because her elderly owners could not handle her being pregnant. Buttons was born the runt of the litter and was rejected by her mom. Both Buttons and Kitty needed to be hand reared by the shelter.

Usually the shelter doesn’t hand rear puppies and kittens together. “We thought we could try putting them together as they are both so young. Luckily it’s paid off as they adore being with each other and do everything together,” said Battersea Veterinary Nurse Sascha Taylor.  The two were both about 2 weeks old when they were put together and they now act as if they are littermates. The two eat, sleep and play together. The shelter is hoping someone will want to adopt the pair together.
