ricochetAmidst the heartbreak surrounding the terrible events at Sandy Hook Elementary school, a very special dog aims to send comfort to survivors.  Ricochet, the only known dog in the world to surf with special needs children and people with disabilities is aiming to send 700 teddy bears to the bereaved student community.

They are meant to be “guardian angel bears” being sent to help the children feel a little bit safer in the wake of the trauma they have faced.  Of course a stuffed bear cannot bring back the victims or erase the pain, but it can send a message of hope and compassion, and just let them know that someone cares. And right now, the more they know that, the better.

Ricochet’s special surfing skill is that he is able to counter-balance the surfboard to keep his companion from falling off, and he adjusts his surfing style based on each individual’s disability.  He is internationally renowned, an award winning, 4 year old golden retriever who has become an inspirational phenomenon, philanthropic role model, internet sensation, fundraising marvel, community advocate,  and goodwill ambassador.

His mission now is extra special, and very important.  If you would like to make a donation to help Ricochet send these bears to the children of Sandy Hook please go to http://bit.ly/GuardianAngelBears.
