buck3It was a long seven days for Buck, but he has finally gone home with the woman who first rushed him to the hospital when he was found shot in the head and face with a pellet gun.

Earlier last week Buck underwent surgery to repair entry wounds to both of his eyes. On Saturday Buck was released from the veterinary clinic and got to go home with Tami Augustyn, the woman who rushed him to the clinic saving his life. Buck is resting comfortably and his eyes will take some time to heal. Buck’s veterinarian, Dr. Rainbow, is not sure yet how Buck’s vision will be, but should have a better idea in a week or so.

The surgery cost upwards of $5,000, but thanks to the generosity of animal lovers more than enough money has been raised to care for Buck. “To everyone wanting to donate for Buck, please be advised I have raised more than enough money for even the worst case scenario,” Augustyn wrote on Buck’s Facebook page. “The generosity of everyone and the outpouring of love and support has given me the opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream.”

Augustyn has established the Buck Foundation to assist rescue organization, raise awareness about animal cruelty and most importantly help other animals like Buck. Montgomery County police are continuing to investigate Buck’s abuse.
