4.24.13 Natura Recall

Natura Pet Products has issued a recall for its dry dog and cat food.  They believe some of it may be contaminated with salmonella.

Brands included are California Natural, EVO, Healthwise, Innova and Karma.

The company announced the recall for all their dry products with expiration dates prior to and including March 24, 2013.    The recall is an extension of one they announced last month.  They say their wet foods and biscuits are safe.

The company, who makes “natural” and “holistic” foods, sells their products through veterinary clinics and pet specialty retailers in the US, Canada, Australia, Costa Rica, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

Humans may be affected by directly handling pet food.  Symptoms in humans and animals are lethargy, fever, decreased appetite, abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.  Please contact a doctor or a vet if you or your pets have these symptoms.
