Ten years in the Army left specialist Steven Mangiameli with depression, anxiety and a debilitating sense of loneliness. He spent many days in bed unable to face the world. His life changed when he contacted Pets for Vets and was paired with Dozer. Dozer became his perfect companion and has made Steven more social, abated his alcoholism and pulled him out of his depression.

The Pets for Vets program is dedicated to providing a second chance for shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America’s veterans who can benefit from a a companion animal. Pets for Vets believes that companion animals can be a life saving therapy that many U.S servicemen and women need.
