According to Randy Boyd, CEO and president of Radio Systems Corporation, makers of the PetSafe brand, the number two reason why dogs are surrendered to local shelters is due to behavioral problems. Local dog parks are places where dog owners can exercise and socialize their pets.

“Keeping dogs out of shelters is something we should all be exited to ‘bark’ about – pet owners and pet professionals, community members and city officials alike,” said Boyd.

Visit www.petsafe.net to nominate your city. To qualify as a finalist, each city must submit land availability documents, as well as proof of civic leader support. The public can vote for their favorite city May 1-31. On June 5, the finalists – 15 cities in total – will be announced and a new voting period will start. This time supporters can cast their votes on www.petsafe.net or PetSafe’s Facebook page. The city with the most votes will win a $100,000 PetSafe dog park, and four additional runner-up finalists will receive $25,000. The contest winners will be announced on July 31, 2013.
