On November of 2012, Alexander was found locked in a Dayton, Ohio, basement abandoned by his previous owner. The home’s landlord found the emaciated pit bull mix with no access to food or water and called the Humane Society of Greater Dayton (HSGD) to have this innocent pet rescued.
Immediately, the dog was welcomed by rescuers and a plan to nurse him back to health was set in motion.
Alex was just hours away from death when found. It took three days of intensive care for the starved dog to be able to hold his own head. In time, he regained enough strength to eat, wag his tail and eventually walk on his own.
“He came from really a pile of bones that was lifeless, to a strong, beautiful animal that is very, very loving to people,” Humane Society Director Brian Weltge told ABC 22.
Since his rescue, volunteers have worked around the clock to save him and to socialize him, increasing his adoption chances.
Alex likes to play rough. He has participated in puppy etiquette classes and has made great strides at becoming a role model pet, yet, HSGD wants to match him with an experienced owner, willing to work with Alex’s specials quirks.
