Help Houston’s East End Pets

We all know that homeless animals have no one to look after them. Many of them spend their lives fending for themselves and if lucky, they find a Good Samaritan willing to help them by taking them home, finding them placement within a rescue organization, or simply networking them among friends until a forever home is found.

In Houston, Texas, independent rescuer Gina Damian-Moreno has dedicated her life to help the homeless dogs from Houston’s East End. She takes it upon herself to feed and help rescue many of the dogs that have been abandoned to their own faith.

Damian-Moreno relies on donations that help her feed the disregarded pets but she is now asking the community to help. The rescuer is running low on food resources to feed her homeless canine friends and needs donations to continue feeding them.

“I am once again reaching out to my Facebook friends for donations or dog/cat food (any brand) to feed the hungry, particularly in Houston’s East End,” posted Damian-Moreno on a YouCaring page. “Along with their hunger, [the animals] are infested with fleas, ticks, and mites. Almost all will eventually face the worst type of death…a slow and painful one from starvation and disease.”

Damian-Moreno looks after many street animals and they depend on her to get a daily meal, a bowl of water and a few minutes of love. While she tries to rescue as many pets as possible, not all pets are fortunate enough to get off the streets, and if wasn’t for her work and the work of her team of volunteers, many of the dogs and cats she looks after would just go hungry.
