Back in February, we told you the story of Shi Bao, the Chinese homeless dog, that only has her two front legs, and who had given birth to puppies in the Kouguan railway station in Datong city, China. After the story made world-wide headlines, various animal rescue groups came together to rescue the disabled momma dog and her puppies.

Shi Boa had an owner and a home before being abandoned on the streets, but once was discarded, the dog had to fend for herself. Unfortunately, she lost her hind legs two years ago in an accident. Locals believe a train or a car ran her over.

Animal lovers all over the world came together to rescue the street dog and her babies and now the family is safe at Datong Meilian Zhonghe Veterinary Hospital.

According to AnimalsAsia.org, two of  Shi Bao’s four puppies did not survive. They suffered from distemper and unfortunately died. A third puppy is critically ill, but rescuers hope the young dog would pull through, and the fourth one is healthy and eating on its own.

The two-legged momma dog has already found an adoptive family. Jill Robinson, founder and CEO of Animals Asia decided to welcome Shi Bao as a member of her own family. And what’s more, the two surviving puppies have also found forever homes.

The healthy puppy will go to a family in Norway and if the critically ill dog survives, he will go to a loving family in Toronto, Canada.

“Shi Bao is a great mother,” said local veterinarian Mr. Xue. “Though the last two babies are still weak, we are all doing our best to help them survive and live healthy and happy lives.”

Staff members at Datong Meilian Zhonghe Veterinary Hospital, where the pets are being cared for, say Shi Bao is very friendly and is happy to be receiving the love and care she had been lacking for the past two years.

We wish Shi Bao and her babies the best and are glad to see that they are getting the happily-ever-after ending they deserve.
