Say what you will about the cheeky Miley Cyrus, but there’s no arguing how much she loves her dogs.  Her beloved boy Floyd died recently, and she tearfully explained to fans at her Boston show that he was her favorite.  She sang Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” in tribute to him, but couldn’t do it without breaking down several times.

Miley’s wanton ways often leave people face-palming themselves, but anyone who’s a devoted dog lover could certainly empathize with the pain she’s feeling after losing her Alaskan Klee Kai pup.  She took to Twitter on Tuesday night to break the news to fans.

“I don’t wanna say it because I don’t want it to be real… But my precious baby Floyd has passed away,” she tweeted.  “I am broken.”

There was no explanation for the cause of Floyd’s death, but at only four years old, it was very likely unexpected.  Someone close to the star inadvertently revealed that he was killed by a coyote, and it seems Miley was worried people would think she had been negligent.

“I know I don’t mean it but I wish he would’ve taken me with him… this is unbearable. What am I gonna do without him?  I am miserable… I’m sorry in advance if I am not myself tomorrow, Boston.  I will try my best to be my best.”

She worried about her upcoming Wednesday night performance, and spent much of her time until then mourning her loss.  Some of the support offered by followers was well intended, but offered little in the way of consolation.

“What you don’t understand is he’s not in a better place,” she said.  “The best place he could be was with me… where he was loved more than anything.”

She refused to cancel her show, especially because a previous Boston show had already been canceled.  She was candid with fans, explaining why she wasn’t performing at her usual standard.

“It’s gonna be hard for me to sing this next song.  I’m not sounding myself; I don’t feel myself,” she explained, visibly upset.  “I’m sure you guys already know, but the reason that I’m so upset is my dog.  I shouldn’t say he was my favorite, but he was my favorite, and he passed away.  I just want to do a song for him.  We used to always listen to Fleetwood Mac together.  This is his favorite song… so I wanna do this song for Floyd.  This song is ‘Landslide.’”

The song by itself is enough to bring many to tears, but it is near impossible to watch Miley painfully choke her way through the beautiful tribute to her Floyd without tearing up.

In the days following her tragedy Miley was “crackin a smile thanks to Mary Jane.”  And that doesn’t mean what you think it does!  She has been keeping her other dogs Mary Jane, Bean and Happy extra close.

Because her mother knows that the best way for Miley to deal with the void left by Floyd is to open her heart to another dog, she surprised her daughter with a new puppy.  (Fingers crossed for an adoption.)

“My mama knew my heart was broken & this morning I woke up to Moonie kisses,” Miley tweeted.  “No one could ever replace my baby Floyd but this precious angel is lendin me some fur to cry on along with my other babies.”
