In Las Terman, Rio Hondo, Argentina, a group of children helped rescue three abandoned and malnourished dogs that had been deliberately thrown into an old, dried out water well more than 16 ft. deep.

The children turned into heroes when they causally walked near the abandoned well and overheard the cries of the animals. Upon investigating they found the dogs at the bottom of the well.

Thanks to local children, three adult dogs were rescued from an abandoned well.

Immediately, the children informed adults of what they found and firefighters, along an animal rescue organization were contacted.

“Children from Villa Nueva neighborhood heard the cries of the animals and thanks to local firefighters, the innocent pets were rescued,” said Emilia Núñez, president of Saabat (Sociedad de Ayuda al Animal Abandonado) Rescue.

It appears animal abuser(s) discarded the three adult pets in the abandoned well, but it is not known how long the canines had been left to their own fate in the deep pit. What it is know is that Saabat is helping the dogs get healthy again, and once they receive a clean bill of health they will be available for adoption.

So far authorities do not know who could have committed this crime, but thanks to the children, the canines’ future is now a lot brighter.
