The elderly woman was unable to reach her pet, and due to the cold temperatures she lost consciousness while in the river.

Fifty-five-year-old Glenn Hunter spotted the woman and he too jumped into the river. Hunter struggled to keep the pet owner afloat and fought off strong currents in order to not drift away.

The brave man and the unconscious woman spent about 20 minutes in the water. There was no way for them to get out. Thankfully, firefighters arrived to save them all.

The dog suffered no injuries from the frigid plunge and he is being cared for by Bath Cats and Dogs Home.

The pet owner was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.
