When the owner of a Styrofoam manufacturing company walked into his facility on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, the last thing he expected to find in one of his machines was a stray dog, but indeed, a homeless dog from Kern County, Calif., wiggled his head inside an opening in one of the industrial machines used for production and gotten his head stuck.

Firefighters were call to 31381 Pond Road in McFarland, north of Bakersfield to assist the pet in need.

The dog was a young, male, mix breed dog, and the only way for him to get unstuck was with the help of humans.

The hero firefighters used cooking oil to lather the dog’s neck and used a sling to hoist and slide the pet out of the machine.

The stray was probably looking for food or shelter when he found the opening in the machine and thought he could fit through the small opening, but little did he know he would get stuck in the opening for quite some time.

It took 20 minutes for rescuers to free the dog, once he was out and safe, the pet was transported to the Kern County Animal Control Bakersfield facility.
