4.23.15 - 11-Year-Old Boy Uses His Allowance to Save Shelter Animals2

From Southern Pines Animal Shelter in Mississippi:

Say hi to Jake Nurkin. Jake is a very special 11-year-old young man. He is in 5th grade at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hattiesburg. This year, for Lent, Jacob decided to give up his hard earned allowance. His mother agreed to match his earnings.

Jacob then decided that his sacrifice should go to help an animal at the shelter. Well, that was great news for sweet little Flurry – a female hound mix!  And after quick calculations we saw that he had enough money to also sponsor Pumpkin – a nine-year-old orange tabby cat!

Because of Jake, they are now FREE to an approved adopter. Congratulations to Flurry and Pumpkin on their sponsorship, and a huge THANK YOU to this amazing young man. He is a true representation of selflessness and sacrifice.
