On July 30, 2015, a friendly tan and white pooch was dropped off in the middle of Old Creek Road in Palos Park, Ill. The pet seemed to not understand why he was the only one to step out of the car, and his owners took advantage of the dog’s confusion and quickly closed the door and drove away. The dog chased after the car but after a while he gave up and was left to roam the streets alone and scared. Luckily, a local resident saw the dog running after the vehicle and called authorities.

It was dark and the resident was not able to identify the car’s license plate, but told authorities the vehicle was a dark blue SUV.

Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller said it appeared to be no injuries on the dog, but the pet has no chip for tracking the owners.

Authorities hope someone will recognize the dog and help identify the owners. Officers are looking into area security cameras, hoping they captured the vehicle as it fled the scene. Anyone with information about the dog or his owner should call police at (708) 671-3700 or (708) 448-2191.

The dog was taken to The Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge. He is not available for adoption as there is an active police investigation.
