Overcrowded shelters, let alone kill shelters, should not exists, but the sad reality is they do. More sad, the fact that thousands of dogs die in them every day. At the Lancaster Animal Services facility in California, a puppy and his mom hope to get pulled out of there together and very soon.

The two were picked up as strays on September 1, 2015, and they are very scared, but even though they are not sure what the future holds, the mother dog has been seen protecting and comforting her young pup.
