On Nov. 9, 2015, a female puppy from North Miami Beach was tossed from a moving car. This happened on 19th Avenue and Northeast 169th Street near Miami Beach Police Department. Thanks to a woman who witnessed the incident, the puppy was rescued off the busy intersection, taken to the police station and greeted by officers willing to give her a home.
According to NBC Miami News, it was past 7:00 p.m. when the good Samaritan approached the station with the rescued dog. It was a miracle the puppy didn’t get run over by a car, nor did she suffer any injuries from the violent toss. Animal Services were contacted in case the dog was stolen and her owners were looking for her, but the puppy had no tags or microchip.
Officer Luis Soto met the dog at the station and said it was love at first sight. He took her home and introduced her to his two young sons. If no one claims her, Soto plans to make her a permanent member of his family.
Meanwhile, authorities work with nearby businesses checking security cameras to identify the car that tossed the dog. Anyone with information as to who threw the puppy from the vehicle should contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
