George, an emaciated boxer mix found roaming the East Hants Waste Management Centre in Nova Scotia Canada, was 41 lbs under weight, presented various lacerations on his legs – consistent with being tied, had an embedded collar and various pressures sores on his body. Today, thanks to Litters ‘n Critters Rescue, the dog named George has a chance at finding new loving owners, but this only if he recovers from the extensive abuse he endured.

According to CBC Canada News, the dog was found at the Georgefield landfill unable to hold his own body weight. Two men took him in and looked after him while authorities came to get the dog.

Shelley Cunningham, president of Litters ‘n Critters Rescue Society, told local news George is one of the hardest abuse case they seen.

Based on the injuries, rescuers think the dog was kept tied up in a small place and somehow the dog escaped his confinement.

Because George was starved, his introduction to food has to be slow. The dog needs to eat multiple times a day and his meals need to be very small. The abused dog has been placed with a foster family and is enjoying love and proper care. Rescuers hope George will be able to stay in his foster home the full extent of his recovery. Once he is healthy, he will be made available for adoption.

The SPCA has opened an animal abuse investigation and hopes the public can help identify George’s abusers.

Litters ‘n Critters is asking for donations to help cover all of George’s medical costs. Anyone willing to donate can do so by sending their donation via PayPal or e-transfer to [email protected]. Please put a note on the donation ” For George.”
