A group of men headed out on a fishing trip along the Spring River had no idea that what they would bring home that day would not be a big fish, but an adorable dog instead. While they were out fishing they spotted something stranded in the middle of the river and the hero men put their fishing plans aside to rescue a puppy.

The Spring River is a 57-mile long river flowing through Missouri and Arkansas, and somewhere along its path is where the rescue took place. Everything was captured on film and later uploaded to YouTube by the user SpringriverKing.

While cruising down the river, the men heard barks and in the distance saw a black dog on the shore. As they approached the shore, the fishermen realized the stranded pet was just a puppy.

Without a collar, leash or anyone near him, it was clear the pup needed help, and that’s when the fishing buddies turned into dog rescuers.

The men slowly approached the dog and tried to coax him to come to them, but the boat’s motor scared the dog and he ran the other way. Rescuers tried to bring the boat closer by moving to a different location. From there they called the stranded pet and gained his trust. After a few minutes, a few good sniffs from the dog and a jump into the river, the little one was safe and secured on the boat with his new best friends.

The video description doesn’t say if the dog was adopted by one of the men or if he was turned over to an animal shelter.  All we know is he was saved and is no longer stranded in the river hoping for someone to help.
