Brrr! For many of us, winter is still hitting hard. We can usually crank up the heat, but there are lots of dogs in chilly shelters who don’t have that luxury. If you have some ugly old sweaters lying around that you wouldn’t mind losing (thanks, grandma!), you can upcycle them into sweaters for small and short-haired dogs in need.
For some of these, you’ll need to be handy with a sewing machine or a needle and thread, but even if you’re not, you probably know someone who is. You bring the supplies, and they might be willing to help for a bottle of wine or two…
Here are some links that will help get you started. Feel free to use your imagination – these things don’t have to be perfect – just warm and comfortable!

For those of you who know how to sew you can make some double layer flannel shirts for the dogs too. So incredibly simple and the dogs love them!
Great great idea!
Shelters & Rescues can also use fleece coats for the dogs.. 2 layers of thick fleece with a layer of Quilter’s Dream Supreme Batting in the center. It’s all for Your Love of Dogs.. Vogue pattern 8312 is the pattern.. it has been discontinued but you can find them on ebay brand new and never used for very cheap! Be Inspired! 🙂
