He may not have gotten the rock through the window on the first try, but a man from Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada wouldn’t give up until he was able to rescue the poor, overheating dog inside.  The man hasn’t been identified as of yet, but his take-charge action most certainly drew a crowd, and thankfully someone documented it.

The temperature in that area on Saturday was about 90 degrees Fahrenheit.  While at a popular camping site, the man in question came across a black BMW with a dog locked inside.  The windows were up, and with it being 90 outside of the car, it was already skyrocketing over 100 degrees inside. (To see where those numbers come from, click here.)  Far too hot for any living creature to survive.

The man knew by looking at the dog that if something wasn’t done quickly, the dog may well have died.  It was very busy at the camping area, there were many, many people around, and by the time someone found the owner of the BMW, it may well have been too late.  He picked up a rock, and threw it at the car window.

The first rock didn’t break through, and by the time he went back for another rock, someone by the name of Will Costa was taking pictures and getting video of what was going on.  Eventually, the man did break through and rescue the dog.

“There was a music festival happening and the announcer mentioned there was a dog in a hot car and for the owner to let the dog out,” Costa said in an interview with The Dodo.  “No one came after a while so everyone got together to solve the issue.  After the dog was rescued, the owners showed up 50 minutes later.”

Costa also said that the dog was taken into police custody and is safe.
