If something happens to you and your pets are left alone, do you have a plan prepared for their care? It is important to think about, and, too often, not thought of until something does happen. It is certainly something to consider and that is the premise behind  Help2Pet. As they say on their website:
At critical times in our lives we assume that loved ones will be by our bedside as a fundamental piece of our recovery. Help2Pet is designed to bridge the gap between our personal safety net and that of our pets. A Help2Pet membership provides our members with a seamless organizational dashboard that can be updated and changed at anytime. In critical times this information is pushed to your EPCs (Emergency Pet Contacts) so they can spring into action ensuring that your pets are taken care of while you’re away.

Life With Dogs chatted with CEO Jeff Kalish to learn about more about this unique product and how it assists pet owners.

LIFE WITH DOGS:     Where did the idea generate for Help2Pet?
JEFF KALISH:            It’s simple…we love pets and believe that every pet deserves a backup plan. Most pet owners would do anything for their pets. In fact,  most pet owners would , at times, do more for their pets than they would for themselves. Placing a sticker on your front door is great in the event there is an emergency at home. But what about when there is an emergency away from home and your pet is alone? Who will know?  We figured, sure we can put a sticker on our door, but it ends up just being a sticker..not a plan. Stickers on doors don’t explain the details surrounding our pets care. They don’t explain things like what our pet eats and how often, favorite hiding places when they are afraid, medications or vet contacts. Details every pet care giver must know in order to best care for our pet.  So THAT WAS IT!! Pet families needed this! We got to work and created Help2Pet as a single source for our members to have peace of mind when they cannot make it home to their pets and an organizational tool for their care.

LWD:      So what does your product provide?
JK:          We issue wallet cards, key tags, window clings, decals and even collar tags.  Every Help2Pet member is assigned their very own unique member id# and is given access to our 800 number both linking our members and their pets to our team standing by 24 hours a day. If a Help2Pet member is not able to get back to their pet we reach out to their designated Emergency Pet Contacts and put their pet backup plan into action. If their dog/cat is lost and found and the pets owner cannot be reached, our collar tags will inform that individual to call Help2Pet. At that moment we immediately call that members emergency contacts so that somebody can retrieve their pet.

LWD:      Are you associated or do you work with any rescues or shelters?
JK:           We are but as this is a trial with a new launch we are not able to share specifics.
One of our main goals with Help2Pet is to work with Shelters. We see Help2Pet as being beneficial to shelters on multiple fronts.  Firstly as an informational database when shelters intake pets. With Help2Pet shelters are able to input each animals vital information into our database giving each dog/cat their own pet profile from the get go. Secondly, once that pet is adopted the new pet owner is already equipped with a Help2Pet membership when they walk out the door.  We are HUGE advocates for rescues and we know how important it is to every rescue to know that every pet that they send out the door is going to be well taken care of. We are confident that Help2Pet will add one more layer to each and every rescue’s  peace of mind  We sell to them at a discount thus allowing them to generate additional funds for their shelter.
