Saying goodbye to a dear friend is always hard, but sometimes the transition can be made easier by giving them one really good, final day. That’s what Kyle Amick did for her dog, Hannah, whose body was being wracked by seizures. She Snapchatted the whole day, and will now always have this digital album to commemorate the bittersweet day.
“Nights of whimpering and seizing weren’t a life worth living,” Kyle told KHOU. “I knew my dog best; in the end I know I made the right choice even if it was hard on everyone involved.”
She gave her a Hannah a full day on the town, which included going for car rides, taking an aromatherapy bath (one of her favorite things to do), getting to snack on some Mickey D’s, and playing with her best doggie friend.
“I know a lot of people saw a happy and healthy dog in those pictures, but that wasn’t her everyday life these past few months. It’s been a struggle for her.”
After Hannah was peacefully put to sleep, she was laid to rest beneath a pine tree in a casket made by Kyle’s stepfather.
Kyle’s photos of their last day together have gone viral in just a few short days, and she hopes that it will inspire others to do something similar for their pets’ last days.
