Ron Belcher’s Wisconsin home is gone, but he thought he’d lost something way more precious.

Belcher was knocked out when the tornado touched down. He woke to find his whole world blown apart. The worst part: his two dogs — Cocoa the husky and Taz the Pomeranian — were missing.

“They’re like my kids,” Belcher told WQOW-TV, the ABC affiliate in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

As he lay recuperating in a bed at Lakeview Medical Hospital, though, nurse Ciara Rockow was spending all her free time trying to find them. And when she finally did (they were at a local animal hospital) she surprised the patient at his bedside with a tail-wagging reunion!

“This is God’s gift, that’s what keeps me moving no matter how many bad things happen,” Belcher said with a big smile.

It will be a wonderful boost to his recovery, which hospital staff expect to last another six to eight weeks. He will have good, loving company, at the least!

Much love to the caring nurse who went above and beyond….
