Senior dog Lucy was paralyzed when she came to Animal Haven in NYC. Now, after surgery, Lucy is walking again and has a spring in her step! She is a sweet girl who is ready for a good and loving home.

Animal Haven writes in Lucy’s voice in their introduction to a new video that shows the happy girl walking, running and even jumping for joy:

“Hi everyone! My name is Lucy and I was abandoned at a vet’s office in early June. The shelter staff believes I may have been abandoned due to the cost of a surgery I needed for my back legs.

“When I arrived at the veterinarian, I was paralyzed from the waist down and unable to use my back legs. Animal Haven agreed to take me in and I recently underwent surgery.

“Now enough about my legs – let’s talk about how great I am! I am a loyal, smart and very affectionate senior dog who is willing to give you every ounce of love I have in me. I adore people and am happiest when I’m around them. I’m very easy-going and always up for anything. If you have the space in your home and heart for me, please come meet me at the shelter today!”

Lucy had surgery over the summer and her caregivers were not sure she would walk again. With therapy, care and healing, Lucy regained the use of her hind legs. As we can see in the video below, they still buckle under her occasionally but she is highly mobile and a very happy girl.

Lucy is described in her adoption listing as a Lab/Pit Bull mix who is about 9 years old.
