An exhausted, waterlogged dog is rescued after spending hours clinging to a tree in flood waters of the Rouge River in Southfield Michigan.

Rescue crews deployed a special, flat-bottomed boat to reach the dog, allowing animal control workers to pull it into the boat. Nicknamed Nemo, the female pit bull mix was taken to Michigan Veterinarian Specialists in Southfield: vets said she was saved just in time. She was suffering from hypothermia, broken nails and multiple lacerations.

“Nemo is hooked up to an IV pump. So, we’re getting some fluids there, and we also have a heating and warming blanket. The fluids are actually warmed as well to make sure that we try to get the temperature up,” said veterinarian Dr. Loretta Lee.

  1. Truly appreciate the people involved in rescuing this poor girl… it brings tears when i read how much she’s suffered to stay alive.. hope she’s reunited with her family or find a forever home soon if she has none…

    1. I bet you that the people in rescue shelters gives all what they have and do all that they can to get every animal they have to get a forever home. But until a regulation gets pass to spay and neutered all animals over population will always fill these shelters and pets will always suffer. Regulating pet shops and puppy mills are another story. Another cause of over population are the IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS. Also there are so much restriction as to what kind of pet you can have if you leave in an apartment. Most that I see requires that your dog be 25 lbs or LESS!!! Besides that most have breed restrictions.
