Rescued from a shallow grave in Malta, a dog named Star is garnering the adoration of animal lovers worldwide as she recovers from a horrific case of abuse.

Now the once unwanted dog is enjoying most wanted status as offers to adopt her pour in from around the globe. Animal welfare officer Janice Chetcuti told the Times of Malta that the Animal Welfare Department had been inundated with offers from people wanting to adopt Star. Chetcuti said that the list was growing quickly, but that in fairness, the first person to offer was the most likely to take Star home. She noted that the person who had made that offer continues to check on the dog’s progress.

Ms Chetcuti said that Star is going for walks daily and is slowly recovering from the surgery she underwent to remove 40 pellets from her head. Meanwhile, a growing list of admirers watch and wait and hope for updates in discussions on her growing fan page.
