An L.A. based rescue group has saved a group of beagles that have been locked up in a research lab since birth.

The Beagle Freedom Project contacted the lab after receiving a tip that nine beagles had spent years undergoing testing for cosmetic, household and pharmaceutical compounds. The lab had completed testing and agreed to release the animals rather than euthanize them.

Now the once neglected dogs are headed for loving, permanent homes, and if you’ve never seen a scared dog locked up for years get a taste of freedom and take its first walk ever on grass, grab a tissue and press play – just be prepared for a deeply moving experience.

The Beagle Freedom Project is on a mission to rescue beagles used in animal experimentation in research laboratories and give them a chance at life in a loving forever home. Learn more about them at their website.
