PETA Announces Launch of Porn Website

Known for outlandish publicity stunts and headline grabbing antics, PETA is turning up the heat with the planned launch of a new xxx website. The controversial animal rights group says it plans to launch the porn site to raise awareness of veganism. One can only imagine what vegetables might be employed – but soon nothing will be left to the imagination when the site goes live.

“We’re hoping to reach a whole new audience of people, some of whom will be shocked by graphic images that maybe they didn’t anticipate seeing when they went to the Peta triple-X site,” said Peta’s associate director of campaigns, Lindsay Rajt. Rajt says the website will promote veganism by using a mix of pornography and graphic footage of animal suffering.

Peta will launch the site when new .xxx domains activate in December. Of course, critics are getting a head start. Gender and sexuality studies program director for Princeton University, Jill Dolan, said: “Exploiting porn to get people’s juices going seems lame; exploiting pornographic images only of women to make their point is retrograde and misogynist. Come on, Peta. Don’t be Neanderthals.”

Rajt denied that Peta has been insensitive to women. “Our demonstrators, the models, all chose to participate in our campaigns … It’s not a very feminist thing to do to turn to women and tell them whether or not they can use their voices, their bodies to express their voice.”

She sees it as a suitable vehicle for promoting PETA’s message. “We try to use every outlet that we can to speak up for animals,” Rajt said. “We anticipated that this new triple-X domain name would be a hot topic and we immediately decided to use it and take advantage of it to try to promote the animal rights message.”

Considering PETA’s earlier attempts at using smut for promotion, one can only imagine what they’ve cooked up for the site launch. (warning: this might prove a bit too racy for sensitive viewers)

  1. I once supported the efforts of PETA and still have strong beliefs in protecting the innocent animals, however I believe this is going abit to far to say the least. I will give my monies, volunteer efforts and support to those organizations that send a message that does not require this type of behavior to get a point across. I am a past president of a no kill shelter and find this most repulsive. I believe it is through speaking, teaching and working with people about animal welfare, their health and working with the local veterinarians that each animal has a better chance to survive and be placed in a loving home. There are ways to provide research without using animals and also ways to stay warm without killing for their furs. I do not believe such a site portrays what a true animal lover desires to see and how do you explain this to children. It certainly sets a poor example. I am very disappointed in PETA and I am an educated individual that certainly understands all aspects of animal welfare. Shame on you PETA.

  2. hmmm… well it should be interesting to see what it does to actually promote and entice peeps to sign up for vegetarianism. I really don’t think it will do anything but raise prude eyebrows and maybe get a few eye rolls from the rest of us. Seems to me they could have come up w/ a better gimmick. Still, vegetarianism is a good thing in my opinion. Just don’t think their marketing peeps are on the mark w/ this…

  3. I find it interesting to note that lifewithdogs.tv is against PETA. This is the second article I’ve noticed recently on your website that has framed PETA in a negative light. I don’t see you doing much for animal rights, so why sneer at other’s efforts? Shame on YOU. Animal rights supporters face a VAST uphill battle to change the way animals are seen and treated by the human race, and I applaud PETA’s efforts to think laterally and find new, creative approaches to bringing this cause into more people’s awareness. Well done PETA!

    1. That’s a hasty and fairly useless comment. The information above was presented in a neutral fashion. The fact that everyone is against the idea is not our doing.

    2. HOLY CLOUDED PERCEPTION OF REALITY!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS???

YOUR COMMENT “I don’t see you doing much for animal rights, so why sneer at other’s efforts?” IS AN ARROGANT DISTORTION OF THE ACTUAL TRUTH. THE AUTHORS OF LWD CREATE AWARENESS OF ANIMAL RIGHTS/WELFARE ISSUES WITH EVERY ISSUE!!!! I MIGHT ADD THAT EVEN THE MOST HORRIFIC ACTS OF CRUELTY ARE WRITTEN WITH OBJECTIVITY, SENSITIVITY AND DIPLOMACY IN ORDER FOR THE READER TO FORM THEIR OWN OPINION. DOES LWD FOCUS ON GLOOM AND DOOM IN EVERY POST AS OTHER RAGS DO? NO; THE AUTHORS INFUSE A HEALTHY DOSE OF HUMOR; NEWS; BLOGS; BEHAVIORAL MANAGEMENT; CONSUMER AWARENESS…ETC IN EACH ISSUE.

ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE READING THE SAME LWD THAT I AM READING???

      1. Well said, Darla! The information is posted to be read, then people can make their OWN minds up about the story.

As for the “not doing much for animal rights” comment – has this person read anything else on this site???? They have no idea just how much those involved with LWD do for animal welfare.

Good grief – I am astounded.

  4. o.k., i started with a sarcastic comment, but here’s the face of p.e.t.a.

    http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

i’ve got four dogs in my house a female pit bull and her now 2 year old pups, 3 pit/rottie mixes. they get petting, treats and affection, and never would i let them go to a p.e.t.a. sponsored “shelter” to be “put down” and thrown away like trash. nor will i contribute to either p.e.t.a. or h.s.u.s., i’ll put my money to my local animal shelter which does try to find homes for dogs and other critters.

  5. Is anyone else REALLY uncomfortable and confused with the bit about “a mix of pornography and graphic footage of animal suffering”?? What message is PETA really trying to portray?? Here’s a scanitly-clad woman doing god-knows-what with a vegetable, then next up is a starved and bleeding animal? I have a difficult time connecting the dots between displaying pictures (ostensibly) meant to turn people on and scaring/dusgusting people into becoming vegan.

  6. good point “anonymous”, no its not a “comfortable” fit at all. when i see pics here of rescued animals i know they’re being helped and cared for, not just being exploited to line someone’s pockets.
whatever is going on with the vegetables, i’m happier not knowing. p.e.t.a. has goofed very badly on this.

    1. I think it gets MUCH too close for comfort to associating getting turned on with viewing animal suffering. And I’m still trying to figure out how that will make people want to be vegan.

  7. Instead of wasting your efforts on a porn site involving animals, why don’t you expend your time and money and efforts working in the real field as I was today rescueing a mama pit bull and her 2 puppies? I will spend my money on the local efforts from now on and continue to educate my community and the “children” how to properly care for and be responsible pet owners. I spent many hard years working as a shelter president and this is heartbreaking and deplorable to me. What is this country coming to when you can’t even protect innocent animals without filth in the picture? You will not prosper financially with this type of campaign. Animals don’t need negativity from this, they already are abused and thrown away everyday by cruel and unremorseful individuals. You have chosen to not follow the path in a way to help, but to hinder the efforts and strides of all of the countless animal volunteers and many hours of rescue, rehab and cost for caring for them. No more support from me or my organization. I can’t wait for the veterinarian’s to put their 2 cents in the pot. I don’ think this will go over with them either, at least not the ones I have spoken too. My voice will always speak loud and clear for the animals, but not in the way you have chosen to conduct business. Your demise will come in due time. This is all a wrong approach to animal welfare.
