She walked the red carpet and traveled by limo and private jet. She befriended the hottest A-list celebrities and amassed millions of fans herself. She was the most famous twelve-pound starlet in history. And she loved every minute of it. FAMOUS DOGS LIFE cover hi resHer name was Gidget. To the world she was the Taco Bell Dog. Until now, no one has ever told the extraordinary story of this irresistible pup’s charmed life, on-screen and off – from her acclimation into a new home and family to the studious training she loved. And finally to the television campaign that gave Gidget a voice, not to mention impeccable comic timing.

Part celebrity bio and part Hollywood tell-all (from a pint-size perspective). Gidget’s story is an illuminatingly human one as well, chronicling the work of Gidget’s devoted trainer, Sue Chipperton, and their life together. Sue details the training techniques she uses for her TV and movie animals and how they apply to the training of everyone’s pets. She reveals fascinating stories of working with Clint Eastwood, Brad Pitt and Moonie, Gidget’s Chihuahua friend and eventual star of Legally Blonde, who became a key part of both Sue’s and Gidget’s lives. In A Famous Dogs Life, Sue Chipperton shares all her delightful tales, investing humor, genuine warmth, and rare insight into one of the freshest and most uncommon Hollywood success stories ever told.

An excerpt of the foreword written by Reese Witherspoon: “I remember when I first read the script for Legally Blonde, I thought, Oh, my gosh, my costar is canine. I hope he’s awesome! For the movie to work, we had to have an incredible animal trainer and an amazing dog. When I heard that our trainer on the movie, Sue Chipperton had also trained the Chihuahua in the Taco Bell commercials, I got really excited. My family and I love those commercials. And when Sue introduced me to Moonie, who played Bruiser, I knew we were going to have a blast. He was this very, very tiny, very high-energy boy, who was incredibly smart, well trained, and ready to go”.

Sue Chipperton originally from England, started her career in Florida, working with marine mammals, and has been a studio animal trainer working at Studio Animal Services for nearly two decades. She has worked on many memorable commercials including Travelers Insurance, Puppy Chow, Advantix, Coca Cola, Budweiser, Toyota, Pedigree, Cat Chow, Science Diet, and Marlboro to name just a few. TV shows include Heroes, Alias, Brothers and Sisters, CSI and NCIS. You can see the Labradors she trained (Smith and Jones) in the movie Shark Night 3D currently in theaters. Titanic, Face Off, 6 Days/7 Nights, Legally Blonde II, The Ugly Truth and Gran Torino are just a few of the feature films that Sue has trained animals for.
