A Chihuahua born without a foot will soon become the world’s “smallest bionic pet” when researchers at North Carolina State University fit her with a titanium prosthetic.
Adopted from a shelter and saved by Enchantment Chihuahua Rescue in Roswell, N.M., Peggy was born without a rear foot. Without this procedure, her leg would have had to be amputated.
North Carolina State University donated the surgery. As part of their research on artificial limbs for pets they have offered to give Peggy Leg the bionic implant for free.
