Two young boys of Scranton, Pennsylvania are doing what they can to help animals in need.
Michael and Nicholas Gowarty, aged 11 and 8, ran a lemonade stand outside their home to raise money for the rescue organization, “Hope for Hannah.”
“Hope for Hannah” works with homeless dogs to find them loving forever homes. They also help support dogs currently in foster care by sponsoring those who need medical care, housing and food. In addition, the organization focuses largely on educating the public, including school kids, about the importance of neutering.
The Gowarty brothers decided to raise money for the organization after they adopted their pup.
To their surprise, a small lemonade stand ended up becoming a big event. There were baked goods for sale and raffle baskets. Even a DJ offered to play for free to attract people to come to the event.
“Me and my brother, we asked my dad and my mom if we can have an iced tea and lemonade sale,” said Michael Gowarty. “It just got bigger and bigger, like you can see here.
Thanks to the boy’s hard work, the event raised $2300 for “Hope for Hannah”.
