Three months after being rescued from railroad tracks in Albany, New York Hudson and Pearl have found families to go home with just in time for the holidays.

Pearl and Hudson have come a long way in the past three months and now have happy futures to look forward to. They were found in September mutilated and abandoned on the railroad tracks. A third puppy didn’t make it. They were malnourished and Hudson would end up needing a prosthetic leg. Hudson has his new leg and the two puppies are playful and loving and ready for their new lives.

The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society performed a thorough and extensive search to find the right families for these two special pit bulls. They asked each interested applicant to write an essay on why they wanted to adopt the puppies. The Humane Society received about 30 essays. They then selected the best essays and interviewed candidates before selecting the Kittie Family to take home Pearl and the Nash family to take home Hudson.

Pearl will be living with the Kittie family and their other dog, a Lab named Bailey. “We’re looking forward to the first holiday with Pearl,’ said Sean Kittie. Hudson will be going home to a 2 ½ acre property owned by the Nash’s that he will share with seven other pets. The Nash family is looking forward to buying Hudson lots of Christmas toys. They also plan to set up play dates with the Kittie family so Pearl and Hudson can see each other. In addition, Pearl and Hudson will see each other as they both are training to become therapy dogs.

The Albany Police continue to investigate Pearl and Hudson’s abandonment and abuse. A $7,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction.

  1. I thank God that for every monster that hurts an animal or child, there are one hundred beautiful souls waiting to hold those animals and children and give them love and a safe place to live.
