On Friday, Norman the Scooter Dog made an attempt at a Guinness World Record and succeeded at becoming the fastest dog on a scooter. His world record attempt was part of an event that benefited  Road Trip Home, a charity that saves animals from high-kill shelters.

Norman and his scooter riding skills have become well known. He has made appearances all over national television, including The Late Show with David Letterman and the Cartoon Network. According to Norman’s official website Guinness contacted Norman and his owner, Karen Cobb, about setting the record for the fastest scooter riding dog.

Norman rides his scooter by placing his two front paws on the handle, one back paw on the scooter and uses his other back paw to propel himself. He is also able to ride a skateboard and a bike which he demonstrated at the event.

In order to set the record Norman needed to ride 30 meters in less than 30 seconds. The attempt was made in Marietta, Georgia on Friday. Norman easily reached the task going almost two feet further in only 20 seconds.

The event raised funds for Road Trip Home, which rescues animals from high kill shelters and relocates them to no kill shelters. For more information on Road Trip Home visit their website.
