This coming August 11, a new free pet food bank will open in Lake Oswego, Ore. The Portland area currently has one other free pet food bank in Sherwood, but unfortunately this food bank is closing its doors.

Dana Lionel, founder and director of The Oregon Cat Project, told Portland Tribune she believes the over population of animals in Portland’s shelters will be reduced with this food bank.

The idea behind the food repository is to help keep pets in their homes and provide meals for pets of homeless individuals.

The new food bank is accepting donations and recruiting volunteers. Anyone who wants to donate wet and dry food can visit the shelter to drop off food. They are located at
342 B Avenue
Lake Oswego, OR 97034

Monetary, tax deductible contributions are accepted online and in person.

The food bank will be open the second Sunday of each month.
