dogmanCornelius Austin knows how important it is to properly train and care for your dog, especially misunderstood breeds like pit bulls. He’s so committed to helping pit bulls and the people who own them that every Sunday “The Dog Man” holds a free training class for dogs and their owners outside of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

“It’s not the pit bull that’s the problem, it’s the people,” said Austin who is determine to help the problem by teaching the people in his community how to train their dogs.

Every Sunday morning outside of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum you will find Austin with a group of dogs and their owners. He doesn’t charge anything for his class, and is happy to help those willing to put in the time to care for their dog.

Austin mostly trains pit bulls but any breed of dog is welcome to his free class. He teaches basic obedience, socialization, agility and leash walking. Austin has worked with pit bulls for over 30 years and takes a tough, commanding approach to training.

“This is my hobby,” Said Austin. “I love doing this. It’s not about money all the time.”

The class is held every Sunday at 9 a.m. and meets on the East side of the Coliseum. Your dog must be at least 4 months old and vaccinated. It is asked that you have a quality 6 ft. leash and a good collar.
