hopeHope was found abandoned on the side of the road after being hit by a car. Now the Nevada Humane Society is seeking donations to give Hope the medical care she needs to live.

Washoe County Animal Services found Hope on the side of the road. She had been hit by a car and left there. The fact that Hope, a small dachshund mix had survived a collision with a car was remarkable itself. They brought her to Nevada Humane Society where they discovered the extent of her injuries.

“Radiographs of Hope have confirmed our initial fears,” said Kevin Ryan, Chief Executive Officer for Nevada Humane Society. “She was struck squarely by the car and the back half of her little body took the brunt of the trauma. Both of her hind legs have serious fractures, and she will need a number of surgeries before she is returned to health.”

Nevada Humane Society runs on private donations and they are reaching out to the public to help them save Hope. With surgery and proper care Hope has a bright future. Her recovery will be long, but she can recover with help. The surgeries and care are expected to exceed $5,000. If you would like to donate to help Hope, visit the Nevada Humane Society’s website or call 775-856-2000, ext. 324.
