When retired Air Force Sergeant David Simpson heard that the dog that served by his side for four years in Iraq was retiring he bought a plane ticket to Germany to be reunited and adopt his faithful war buddy. Their emotional reunion was captured on video.

About a year ago Simpson had to say goodbye to Robbie. Simpson was retiring, but Robbie was going to continue to serve. Life without Robbie was difficult for Simpson.

“It was very tough to go through, and you don’t know if the dog understands,” said Simpson. “Having to say goodbye, that is heartbreaking.”

When Simpson heard the news that Robbie was retiring he didn’t hesitate to spend $2,000 on a plane ticket to Germany to be reunited. Their happy reunion was captured on video and soon after it was posted onto YouTube it already had thousands of views. There is no denying that Robbie was very excited to see his old handler Simpson.

Robbie will now get to spend the rest of his life living with Simpson, who hopes to give him a good life and happy retirement.

“My goal for him is to allow him to have as much fun and relaxation for the rest of his life,” said Simpson. “I just want him to enjoy his retirement.”
