Back in January we told you about Madison, a chocolate color Doberman mix dog, who needed spinal surgery after running away near Chicago’s Midway Airport in mid transport. She was lost for six days and somehow survived the harsh winter and getting hit by a car. After being found, she received the medical help she desperately needed, but she had no family to call her own. Well, we are happy to report that Madison has finally found her forever home.

The previously injured canine found her human in her foster parent, Missy Kolbe.

“I have a love for dogs with a little bit special needs. I have a lot of time and a lot of love,” Kolbe told CBS Chicago. “I love them like my kids.”

When Madison went missing, Kolbe was one of the volunteers who searched the area looking for the pet, and after locating her, fostering her, and helping the dog rehabilitate, Kolbe knew she could not let her go. Therefore she made it official and adopted the runaway dog.

Congratulations to Kolbe and Madison!
