Most people have seen a dog on a surfboard before.  Maybe on television, or some crazy YouTube video and sometimes even covered by the news.  It’s been done for just for kicks and the dogs seem to enjoy it, and it’s even been done for charity.  Not too long ago, right here on Life with Dogs, we covered a story about a surfing therapy dog (click here for that story).

On the 14th of July, more than 50 dogs showed up to strut their stuff out on the ocean for an annual competition.  One dog even had a fetching pink life vest that matched her surfboard quite nicely.

The top prize was a $250 gift card, and all of the proceeds raised by the event went into food, housing and medical care for dogs at the San Diego Humane Society shelters.  Judging by the photos and video, these dogs really know how to catch a wave!
