The more than 100 dogs rescued recently from a puppy mill in Luray, Va. Are now available for adoption, and need to find loving forever homes.

The dogs were part of “Operation Liberty Dogs” by The Animal Rescue Corps, which took place over the 4th of July weekend.  The Page County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant on the property after tips of abuse and neglect.  They removed 132 dogs and four birds.

“These animals were living in their own feces and urine with high levels of ammonia.  They had eye issues and respiratory issues,” said Scoutlund Haisley, founder of the Animal Rescue Corps.

Some of the dogs were taken to Mutts Matter in Rockville.  After fostering with Kristin Lamoureaux, they are starting to become ready for adoption.  In fact, quite a few of the 132 dogs are quite ready for adoption, and just can’t wait to be part of a new, loving family, something according to Lamoureaux, these dogs hadn’t experienced up to now.

“Seeing the dogs rest their head on a bed for the first time, seeing them eat clean food, seeing them nuzzle up – that breakthrough moment when they realize you’re not gonna hurt them – it’s incredibly gratifying,” said Lamoureaux.
