Sweet, friendly Delilah was rescued from a puppy mill after spending 9 years in a wire cage. It was a joyous moment when she experienced a soft bed for the first time.

Delilah is a sweet and friendly Lhasa Apso who spent 9 years living in a wire cage in a puppy mill until she was saved by National Mill Dog Rescue earlier this month.

Her intake date is listed as October 10, so she has only known freedom for several days now.  She was bathed and shaved after her rescue, and on October 12 her caregivers shared one of the most heartwarming videos ever, with Delilah, all clean and unmatted, rolling around on a soft bed and feeling sheer joy.

This video shows Delilah experiencing a bed for the first time in her life:

National Mill Dog Rescue gratefully accepts donations so that, in their words, “more dogs can have the chance to learn about soft beds and most importantly, love.”

  1. missing my beautiful brown eyed buckeye boy who spent the first 10 years of his life in a cruel horrible Amish puppy mill ….

    1. That little baby dog is so so so precious, my own Darby is Lasa Apso and I couldn’t stand the thought of him being in a place like that. They SHOULD BE OUTLAWED.

  2. This brought tears to my eyes. Thank God there is a group that saves these sweet animals from their hell.

  3. Awwww….bless her heart. They say when a dog is blissfully happy they roll around like that! I can only imagine what that must feel like to her. Shedding tears of joy for her new found happiness!

  4. Poor sweet little beauty. Nine years in a wire cage! Thanks for saving her to enjoy love and comfort for the rest of her life!

  5. Omg what a cutie pie. I wish she could come home with me, my Lillian Escamilla needs a sister. I mean she can, but I bet a lot a people want to adopt her .

  6. Poor baby…she finally gets to sleep on a soft, warm bed! Annie Ngov Perinelli! I wish I could get rid of all these darn puppy mills.

  7. Why on earth humans are so mean to animals!!!!!!!!
We should cage those abusive beings for a period of time.

I have a rescued dog myself and he has brought so much joy into my life. Pity for these mean people for the joy they have missed.

  8. I know how the little thing feels. I raise baby chickens and ducks until they are safe to be put in with the bigger ones and the cage they are in has a wire floor, I love to see them experience the ground for the first time. I am so sorry for the little doggie. Bless her little heart.

  9. So sad that heartless, sorry individuals do this to animals and even sadder that our laws allow it to happen. Just despicable. So happy for this little one after a life of horrific abuse.

  10. Hope she gets a family who will give her an even softer bed and lap for the rest of her life. I have 4 rescues and could not imagine my life without them!

  11. Vote for National Mill Dog Rescue (who rescued Delilah) on The Animal Rescue Site’s Shelter Challenge. They are currently in 3rd or 4th place.

  12. I wonder about the condition of her paw pads after 9 years existence in a wire cate. She is so beautiful. Bless her little heart.
