On January 20, 2015, a couple from Pleasant Hill, Calif., were walking their Australian shepherd dog in Paso Nogal Park, when the pet alerted them of something unusual. Next to a garbage container was a tied trash bag with three Terrier puppies left there to die.

Fortunately, the couple saved the puppies’ lives. They took the small dogs home, cleaned them and fed them, and later, they handed the young dogs to Contra Costa Animal Services.

Veterinarian found all three puppies were in great health. Authorities are now looking for the pet owner that purposely tried to kill the dogs by abandoning them inside a closed trash bag. Anyone with information on the puppies and their previous owner(s) is asked to call (925) 335-8366.

The dogs have been rescued by East Bay Animal Rescue & Refuge (EBARR) and will be available for adoption in a few weeks.

  1. I live in Pleasant Hill and can tell you that there are several places they could have surrendered them to which would have been a lot easier, and more humane, other than tying them up in a bag and left for a horrible death! And just as horrible is knowing that whoever did this possibly still has the mother, and what is/was her fate?

  2. Breaks my heart how many times this happens and the puppies are never saved. Spay/neuter, people, and this could be avoided.

  3. There is no excuse for that kind of thing! Wish someone would put them in a bag and throw them away, the world would be better without them. I am glad someone found the pups though.

  4. thank you so much for saving these babies…..how on earth can people do such cruel things to something so innocent as these puppies and discard them in a garbage bag. Hope they rot in Hell.

  5. So glad they were saved!!! So sad that someone did this, the result of not spaying/neutering. Sweet angels!

  6. It’s all so sad. I am so glad that you walked that way with your dog. I’m overwhelmed by the senselessness of the human race.
